Lowcountry Island Retreat
Seabrook Island, South Carolina, became the setting for this couple’s custom-built retirement home, a relaxed oasis designed for entertaining, cooking, and enjoying island life. Sue Subbotin Interiors worked virtually with the homeowners, architect, and builder to bring the vision to life.
A primary design goal was creating the perfect backdrop for the owner’s extensive collection of needlepoint artwork, thoughtfully incorporated throughout the home. As an avid chef, she also wanted a kitchen tailored to her passion for cooking, with every detail designed around the way she lives.
The home’s indoor-outdoor connection is enhanced by a built-in deck and pool, while a playful family motto, “Let the Good Times Roll,” is incorporated into the pool bathroom floor in tile.
The result is a colorful, personal retreat that captures the spirit of Lowcountry living, and makes retirement feel like bliss.
