Sue Subbotin Riviello

ASID allied, Principal

Design Changes Lives.  Sue Subbotin was born with a true passion for design. As Principal of San Francisco Bay Area based Susan Subbotin Interiors, she is responsible for executing the client’s style and designing spaces that inspire and reflect their lifestyles and personalities. As a graduate of Parson’s School of Design in New York and Paris, Sue brings a comprehensive knowledge of interior architecture/space planning and decorative arts to her design work. She has a keen sense of perspective and the ability to access spacial relationships.  Her knowledge of color and texture help define her look of understated casual elegance.  Sue has a respect for tradition and the melding of old with new.

Working with Kenneth Alpert Associates, a New York City high-end residential design firm whose client list included Mary Tyler Moore, is where Sue learned the ins-and-outs of running a design business and attention to detail.

Sue has designed rooms in numerous Decorator Showhouses, as well as designed a vignette for the opening of the SF Exploratorium Museum.  A completely renovated Menlo Park home won Gentry Magazine’s Best Family Home Award.

PHILOSOPHY

We believe that Design Changes Lives.  Our mission is to inspire, educate and enrich our client’s lives by partnering with them to create their personal space that gives a sense of inner joy.

Everything in a home should be a reflection of the people who live there. I like an undecorated look, where things feel like they have been collected over time.

Nature is my biggest design inspiration.  The combination of colors and textures in nature is pure and organic.  I emulate design schemes from the interaction of colors outside.  My family and pets are my other inspiration!  The practical and functional elements required for raising children and having pets are key to a successful living environment.
